Homer Plessy was the citizen in the revolutionary civil rights case Plessy vs. Ferguson, which deemed “separate but equal” legal. Despite him being only 1/8th black, he was forced onto the discriminative side of segregation and took legal steps to change it. This text is for 8th-12th grade students.
