Famous Roman author, Ovid, was the author of Metamorphosis, a collection of short stories and epic poems that are a great source for classic mythology. This short excerpt from Metamorphosis is from a story about Daedalus, who is an inventor trapped on an island. He and his son try to escape the island by flying with wings that Daedalus invented. This selection is targeted towards 11th grade students.
