Love & Friendship

Emily Brontë (1818-1848) was an English poet and novelist. While growing up, Brontë spent much of her time creating stories with her siblings, of whom two were also famous authors. Brontë was known for her solitary nature, and so it is interesting to consider her perspective on love and friendship. This poem is for grade 8 students. As you read, take notes on the poet’s use of figurative language. ‘Love and Friendship’ by Emily Brontë is in the public domain.
